Heading south on South Bridge, was out quite wide, well into right hand lane in order to avoid parked vehicles, unevenly sunken drain and massive potholes. Small blue hatchback SN52 0HZ (not quite sure about last part now) deliberately overtook too closely, swerving at me and gesturing. Caught him up at next pedestrian crossing lights, tapped on window and he yelled "you were cycling in the middle of the road" in an aggressive manner, and took off again. Owing to the nature of that part of the road I caught him up at every set of lights/crossing as far up as Rankeillor Street and at every one he made a point of overtaking me too closely, even though there were parked vehicles, stopped buses etc and I had no way of going further left.

Obviously he was too impatient and couldn't wait to get home for his Friday evening fish and chips. It's a shame that no amount of shoulder checking and visual human-human contact will make satisfy some drivers. Oh, and while it's only a possibility, Kirst, SN52 OHT would fit your description.

I'm sure it was a Z but maybe not. He was just an arsehole.
